Lacey Seaton

Lacey Seaton is an Associate Teaching Professor of Educational Leadership in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development at North Carolina State University. She previously served as an Assistant Professor and Faculty Director of the Quality Enhancement Plan at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her academic credentials include an Ed.D. (2021) and MSA (2017) from NC State University and a B.A. in Adapted Special Education (2011) from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Prior to academia, she held roles as a principal resident, assistant principal, and exceptional children’s teacher in North Carolina public schools, and she is licensed as a Principal and Superintendent in the state.

Dr. Seaton’s research focuses on school leader preparation, mentorship in principal internships, equity in education, and culturally responsive leadership. She has collaborated with RTR on grant management for initiatives like the School Leader Residency program. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on Equity and Leadership, School Law, and Administrative Internships.

Her recent publications emphasize reflective learning in leadership internships, mentor-intern dynamics, and systemic equity challenges in education. She has contributed to interdisciplinary projects addressing school segregation and implicit bias in educational systems.
