La Mont Terry is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education at Occidental College. He earned his A.B. and M.A.T. from Occidental College and his Ph.D. from UCLA.
His research focuses on creating critical race "counterspace" environments for high school Black males in mathematics education, examining how critical literacies influence their racial and mathematical identity formation. He collaborates with K-12 educators to develop socially-just pedagogies in urban Los Angeles and Southern California.
Previously a classroom teacher and mathematics coach, Dr. Terry consults on single-sex educational programs and works with pre-service and in-service educators through institutional networks.
