LJ Slovin is an Assistant Professor at the School of Child and Youth Care, University of Victoria. They are affiliated with the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto. Their research focuses on queer and trans youth, ethnography, and rethinking risk narratives in education. Slovin holds a BA from Wesleyan University, MA in Sociology from UBC, and a PhD in Curriculum and Pedagogy from UBC. They are a Vanier Scholar and recipient of the Pat Clifford Award (2020) and the 2021 Queer SIG Article of the Year Award at AERA.

Research interests include queer/trans youth, sexual health education, qualitative methodologies, and disability justice. Their work critiques structures of whiteness, settler colonialism, and ability in educational settings. Recent publications explore trans high school students' gender nonconformity, drag culture's role in youth identity, and queer pedagogy.
