LIAKOS IOANNIS (Assistant Professor) is affiliated with the Department of Social Theology and Christian Culture at the School of Theology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His office is located in room 352 on the 3rd floor of the Theology building, with office hours Tuesday and Thursday 10:30–13:30.
- Teaching courses: Church Music [Y109], Theory and Practice of Byzantine Music I–III (X350, Θ370, Θ371)
- Research focuses on Byzantine music history, manuscript analysis, and local psaltic traditions of Thessaloniki, Mount Athos, Cyprus, and the Balkans.
His work addresses theoretical, morphological, and pedagogical aspects of Orthodox ecclesiastical chant, with particular emphasis on source-based research (manuscripts, printed editions, archival material). Recent publications explore aesthetic principles (2018), implied rhythm in 19th–20th century compositions (2009), and tetraphony in Byzantine music (2000). He participates in international conferences like Crossroads | Greece as an intercultural pole (2011) and Modus-Modi-Modality (2017).
