L. Paul Bernard serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Psychology in the College of Adult and Professional Studies at Bethel University since 2021. He possesses over two decades of multifaceted experience spanning clinical counseling, church ministry as Founding Pastor of TEN27 Church for 12 years, public education as a school counselor, and university teaching at institutions including Azusa Pacific and Liberty Universities.
His educational qualifications are:
- M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University (1996)
- Ph.D. from Capella University (2020)
Dr. Bernard's research and clinical expertise centers on trauma, abuse, and attachment disorders, alongside strategies for burnout prevention. He specializes in mental health counseling for adolescents and adults addressing self-destructive behaviors, depression, stress management, and relationship conflicts. His work also emphasizes enhancing parent-teen dynamics through communication and conflict resolution skills, drawing from his background as the biological child of foster parents and his experience in the child welfare system.
