معرفی
L. Fresiello serves as Assistant Professor in the Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiology group (CRPH) at the University of Twente's Faculty of Science and Technology since January 2022, specializing in high-fidelity cardiovascular simulators for therapeutic optimization and medical education.
Education background:
- Master degree in Biomedical Engineering, Univ. Campus Bio-Medico of Rome
- II level Master degree in Clinical Engineering, Univ. of Florence
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering in Warsaw (collaboration with Institute of Clinical Physiology, National Research Council, Italy)
Research Interests:
Dr. Fresiello pioneers interdisciplinary cardiovascular modelling through close clinical collaboration, developing high-fidelity simulators to address therapy personalization challenges. His work integrates pathophysiological data from clinical/in vivo studies into simulation frameworks targeting ventricular assist devices, hemodynamic optimization, and hybrid heart systems, with strong emphasis on translating research into medical education tools for healthcare training.
Scientific Awards:
- Marie Curie scholarship (KU Leuven post-doctoral research)
- Frans Van de Werf scholarship (Medical University of Vienna visiting research)
Professional Activities:
Dr. Fresiello leads simulator development within the Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiology group, conducting clinical data acquisition, in vivo validation, and cross-disciplinary knowledge translation. His work bridges engineering and clinical practice through ongoing partnerships with cardiac surgery departments and medical physics institutes across European research networks.
