Dr. L Heidenreich is a Professor of History at Washington State University (WSU), affiliated with the Department of History within the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a B.A. and M.A. from San Francisco State University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on Chicanx and Latinx histories, queer studies, and borderlands histories, emphasizing intersections of race, gender, and power. Current projects include analyzing the role of faith and queerness in the United Farm Worker movement, particularly through the lens of Dolores Huerta's activism.
Key publications include Nepantla 2: Excavating Transgender Mestiz@ Histories in Times of Global Shift (2020), a Lambda Literary Award finalist, and This Land Was Mexican Once: Histories of Resistance from Northern California (2007). He has held leadership roles such as Lead Editor of the National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies proceedings and served on the American Historical Association’s LGBTQ Status Committee.
