معرفی
Källan Berglund is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at College of the Holy Cross. Her research spans quantum gravity, astrophysics, and physics education, with a focus on quantum-corrected black holes, galaxy cluster investigations of dark matter, and inclusive community building in introductory physics courses.
Education:
- Ph.D. from Penn State
Prof. Berglund's research in quantum gravity involves building spacetime models of quantum-corrected black holes and investigating their properties and predictions. In astrophysics, she studies star formation in galaxy clusters and the merger history of fossil galaxies, and collaborates on galaxy cluster investigations of dark matter. Her physics education research measures the impact of inclusive community building in introductory courses, with plans for further studies.
Advising and Grants:
Prof. Berglund mentors students in her research areas. She is actively involved in collaborative projects, including galaxy cluster investigations, and plans to expand her physics education research through future studies on her 'Building Inclusive Communities' initiative.
Labs and Teams:
She contributes to collaborative astrophysics efforts focused on galaxy cluster studies of dark matter, working within research teams investigating cosmic structure formation.
Prof. Berglund is a passionate advocate for equity and inclusion in academia. As a queer, neurodiverse woman in physics, she has a strong commitment to community building and is active in outreach and science communication, encouraging students and colleagues to engage in resource sharing and collaborative discussions.
