Kyungsook Kim is a Full Teaching Professor and Korean Language Coordinator in the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Arts. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Alberta. Dr. Kim pioneered the Korean Language Program (KLP) in 2007, developing a comprehensive curriculum from introductory to advanced levels, emphasizing culture-based learning. She is currently implementing the 'K-Culture Korean' course, which integrates K-POP and K-Drama to teach the language. She authored a textbook series for post-secondary Korean language education.

Research Interests: Focuses on second language acquisition, language pedagogy, and culturally immersive educational materials. Specializes in leveraging Korean pop culture (K-POP, K-Drama) to enhance language learning engagement and effectiveness.
