Kyra St-Pierre is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Science. Her research group, the Land-to-Ocean (L2O) Biogeochemistry Lab, integrates environmental chemistry, Earth sciences, ecology, hydrology, limnology, and oceanography to study aquatic ecosystems and their responses to environmental change.
Research interests include:
- Biogeochemistry of carbon and nutrients
- Climate change impacts on northern watersheds
- Land-ocean linkages
- Contaminant sources and sinks in aquatic systems
- Arctic and subarctic ecosystem dynamics
The L2O Lab operates in collaboration with institutions like the Hakai Institute and works on field sites across Canada, including Atlin Lake and Yukon territories. The lab acknowledges traditional Indigenous territories in their research areas and emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understanding ecosystem productivity and contaminant transport from headwaters to coastal environments.
