Kyoko Ishida is a Professor at Waseda University's School of Law, where she has served since 2020, having previously held positions as Associate Professor (2012-2020) and Assistant Professor (2009-2012). She maintains additional affiliations with Waseda's Faculty of Political Science and Economics, School of Political Science and Economics, and the Global Education Center. Her academic journey includes significant research roles at the Ministry of Justice, Waseda University Institute of Comparative Law, and Washington University Asian Law Center.
Dr. Ishida's research interests focus on Legal Ethics, Gender and Law, Civil Law, Legal Sociology, and Professional Responsibility of Lawyers. Her scholarly work critically examines the intersection of gender and legal professions, ethical challenges in modern legal practice, and the evolving relationship between technology and legal services. She has conducted extensive empirical research on Japanese lawyers' careers, particularly examining gender disparities and professional development patterns through longitudinal surveys of multiple cohorts of attorneys.
