Professor Kylie Pitt is a marine ecologist specializing in jellyfish ecology at Griffith University, School of Environment and Science. She leads the Griffith Sea Jellies Research Laboratory, recognized for its public engagement and industry collaboration. Her roles include HDR Convenor and former Deputy Head of School (Research). She holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (1996-1999) and a BSc (Hons) from James Cook University (1990-1994).
Research focuses on jellyfish population dynamics, eDNA applications for Irukandji detection, and mitigating jellyfish impacts on aquaculture and coastal industries. Notable awards include the 2024 Engagement Australia Award for Industry Collaboration. Supervised over 20 doctoral students, with current projects on microplastics, climate change impacts, and aquaculture welfare.
