معرفی
Dr. Steve Melvin is a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University's School of Environment and Science (Department of Environment and Marine), affiliated with the Australian Rivers Institute. His research focuses on using molecular techniques like metabolomics and lipidomics to study sub-lethal impacts of environmental stressors on wildlife, particularly in aquatic ecosystems. He has a strong collaborative network and expertise in ecotoxicology, physiology, and water quality assessment.
Key research interests include the effects of chemical pollutants, ocean acidification, microplastics, and emerging contaminants on non-target species. He has developed frameworks like EthoCRED for behavioral ecotoxicology studies and contributed to the ECHIDNA database for contaminant prioritization.
Dr. Melvin has secured over 20 grants since 2016, including projects on metabolomics analysis of oysters, sea turtles, and jellyfish, as well as consultancy work with organizations like Water Research Australia and the International Atomic Energy Agency. He supervises doctoral students in environmental metabolomics and ecotoxicology.
- Award: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2022)
- Labs/Teams: Australian Rivers Institute, Griffith University
His work bridges environmental science and molecular biology, addressing global challenges like climate change impacts and water quality management.
