معرفی
Kylie Belchamber is a Lecturer in Maternal and Fetal Health at the University of Manchester's Division of Developmental Biology & Medicine, affiliated with the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre. Her research focuses on innate immune mechanisms in pregnancy, women's health, and respiratory diseases. Previously, she held post-doctoral positions at Imperial College London and the University of Birmingham, where she studied COPD immunopathology and neutrophil dysfunction in aging and infection.
Education:
- PhD in Immunology, University of Surrey (2013)
- Master of Teaching and Learning, University of Birmingham (2024)
- BSc Pharmacology, University of Portsmouth (2008)
Research Interests: Innate immune system regulation in pregnancy, macrophage biology in obstetric complications, neutrophil dysfunction in COPD and sepsis, and immunological mechanisms of preeclampsia. Active in translational projects linking immunology to clinical outcomes in maternal health and respiratory disease.
Recent work highlights dysregulated neutrophil function in severe infections, macrophage-microbiome interactions in COPD, and developing personalized immune therapies for acute infections. Her studies on decidual macrophages in preeclampsia aim to identify novel therapeutic targets.
Awards:
- Alpha-1 Foundation Fellowship (2019)
- Dunhill Trust Aging Research Grant (2019-2024)
- Preeclampsia Foundation Research Award
Advising and Grants: Accepting PhD students; co-PI on the long-term Maternal & Fetal Health Research Centre initiative (2018-2035) exploring placental biology, fetal growth, and stillbirth prevention. Collaborates on interdisciplinary projects linking immunology, genomics, and clinical care.
Labs/Teams: Core member of the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre and affiliated with respiratory immunology groups at the University of Manchester.
