Kyle T. Evered is an Associate Professor at Michigan State University’s Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences. His work focuses on cultural, historical, and political geography in Turkey, North Africa, the Middle East, and former Soviet states. He earned a PhD in Geography from the University of Oregon, with a Graduate Certificate in Russian and East European Studies, and holds degrees in Anthropology, Latin American Studies, and Geography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Evered’s research integrates political ecology, environmental history, and medical geography, examining topics like opium poppy cultivation, malaria eradication, and alcohol regulation in early republican Turkey.

He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in human geography, critical geopolitics, and environmental history, while also presenting at academic conferences on Eurasian geopolitics and Middle Eastern studies.
