Kyle P. Eagen is an Assistant Professor and CPRIT Scholar in Cancer Research at Baylor College of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. He holds memberships in multiple centers including the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Center (STaR), and Therapeutic Innovation Center (THINC). His research focuses on nuclear organization, epigenetics, chromosome biology, and cancer therapeutics, with a particular interest in fusion oncoproteins and 3D genome architecture.
Dr. Eagen earned his PhD from Stanford University (2017) and BS from Cornell University (2008). His honors include the NIH Director's Early Independence Award and the Sontag Foundation Distinguished Scientist Award.
Research interests span nuclear compartmentalization and fusion oncoprotein biochemistry. His lab explores how chromosome folding impacts gene regulation and disease pathogenesis, using integrative approaches from biochemistry to computational genomics. Recent work links chromatin structure to therapeutic vulnerabilities in cancers driven by fusion oncoproteins like BRD4-NUT.
Current grants include CPRIT funding for cancer research and an NIH U01 Award for studying fusion oncoproteins in brain tumors. The lab seeks to bridge basic chromatin biology with clinical applications in precision oncology.
Lab affiliations include the Eagen Lab at Baylor, with recruitment opportunities for postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. Collaborations span multiple centers within Baylor to advance understanding of chromosome architecture and its therapeutic implications.
