Kyle Mitchell

Kyle Mitchell serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he is a board-certified thoracic surgeon by both the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

His educational background includes:

Dr. Mitchell specializes in complex thoracic surgical oncology using minimally invasive techniques for lung, esophageal, and mediastinal cancers. His research investigates immunometabolic mechanisms of tumor immunoevasion and biomarker development to create novel therapeutic strategies, with significant contributions to oligometastatic NSCLC treatment guidelines including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Clinical Practice Guidelines.

He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications and received multiple awards for clinical and academic excellence.

Within the Division of Surgery, Dr. Mitchell actively participates in multidisciplinary teams advancing thoracic cancer care through surgical innovation and translational research.
