Dr. Kyle Gustafson is an Associate Professor of Parasitology at Arkansas State University and Co-Principal Investigator for UandI-DEECoDE. He holds a Ph.D. in Zoology from Oklahoma State University (2016), an M.S. in Biology from University of North Dakota (2011), and a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from the same institution (2009).
Gustafson leads the Gustafson Lab researching parasite biodiversity and wildlife genomics, integrating field studies with genetic approaches. Key research areas include: population biology examining evolutionary processes; conservation genetics assessing wildlife population structure; parasitology focusing on host-parasite dynamics; and phenotypic plasticity in response to environmental changes. Current projects investigate snail-symbiont relationships, amphibian parasite ecology, and landscape genomics of mammalian species.
Publications demonstrate methodologies spanning genomic analysis, field parasitology, and conservation applications. Recent works focus on amphibian parasites, host specificity patterns, and genetic connectivity in mammals like pumas and pronghorn.
No specific awards, students, or research grants are detailed in available records. Laboratory facilities are located in Lab Science West Room 330-A.
