Kyle Fleming

Kyle Fleming, MA, MT-BC, is an Assistant Professor of Music Therapy and Clinical Supervisor at Wartburg College. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Wartburg College (2012) and a Master of Music Therapy from Augsburg University (2023). With over a decade of clinical experience, his work spans child/adolescent mental health, substance use disorders, and community music therapy.

Research Focus

Professor Fleming's research integrates clinical practice with theoretical frameworks in trauma-informed care and culturally responsive approaches. Key interests include:

• Substance abuse rehabilitation through music
• Community-based therapeutic models
• Adolescent-focused treatment methodologies

Professional Roles

As Clinical Supervisor, he oversees student practicum placements, manages community partnerships in Waverly/Waterloo/Cedar Falls, and collaborates with adjunct faculty. He teaches foundational music therapy courses and clinical applications in medical settings. Externally, he founded Fleming Music Therapy, a community practice promoting mental wellness through music.
