Kyle E. Chambers is a Professor in the Department of Psychological Science at Gustavus Adolphus College, where he also serves as Associate Provost for Institutional Research & Analytics and Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) since 2020. He previously chaired the Department of Psychological Science from 2017 to 2020 and currently holds the role of Interim Chair in both the Physics and Sociology and Anthropology departments, reflecting his interdisciplinary engagement.
His academic training includes a B.A. in Philosophy & Psychology from Oklahoma State University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Kyle's research and professional expertise focus on cognitive development, particularly language acquisition, and he has developed strong competencies in data analytics, research ethics, and data visualization using R and Shiny. His work in institutional research involves leading a team that builds data dashboards, conducts research reports, and administers surveys to support strategic decision-making across student success, resource allocation, and academic programming.
Teaching has been a central component of his career, with extensive experience in courses such as Child Development (PSY-234), General Psychology (PSY-100), and Statistics and Research Methods II (PSY-225). He has also taught specialized topics including the Psychology of Language and directed research courses, indicating mentorship roles.
