Kyle D. Allen, Ph.D., is a Professor in the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida’s Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. His research focuses on diagnosing and treating degenerative joint diseases through preclinical models, molecular analysis, and tissue engineering. He leads the Orthopaedic Biomedical Engineering Laboratory and holds several prestigious awards, including the UF Doctoral Mentoring Award (2022-2023).
Dr. Allen earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering & Economics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (2002), a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Rice University (2006), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery at Duke University (2011).
His research interests include novel behavioral assays for joint disease symptomology, magnetic nanoparticle-based molecular analysis, and tissue engineering for functional joint replacements. His work emphasizes translating preclinical findings into clinical applications.
