Kwame Awuah-Offei

Kwame Awuah-Offei is the Union Pacific/Rocky Mountain Professor of Mining Engineering and Chair of the Department of Mining & Explosives Engineering at Missouri University of Science & Technology. He holds a PhD from Missouri S&T and a B.S. from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Ghana. With over 14 years of experience, his research focuses on sustainable mining systems, equipment performance evaluation, and community engagement in mining projects.

His academic journey includes teaching and research roles across three countries, with expertise in surface gold mining and aggregates operations. Dr. Awuah-Offei is a Fellow of the West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum and an active member of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME). His work bridges technical innovation with social responsibility, emphasizing ESG principles and critical mineral supply chain resilience.

Research trends in his publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches: applying AI for miner safety, optimizing equipment energy efficiency, and modeling community acceptance of mining projects. He has pioneered discrete choice experiments to analyze stakeholder preferences and developed frameworks for integrating renewable energy into mining operations.
