Kushal Sood

Kushal Sood is a Senior Lecturer at the Sheffield Institute of Law and Justice, affiliated with the College of Social Sciences and Arts at Sheffield Hallam University. He concurrently serves as a solicitor with Lawstop solicitors, where he previously held the position of Regional Head of Community Care Law. His career has been centered in legal aid practice since being called to the Bar in 2006, specializing in representing imprisoned clients.

Teaching: Leads modules including Professional Practice Experience and Extended Professional Practice, supervising placement students in criminal appeals and prison law casework. Previously served as prison clinic module lead in 2022.

Research Interests: Focuses on legal aid accessibility, prison abolitionism, and the intersection of utopian ideals with legal systems. Active in sector advocacy through roles like Committee Secretary for the Association of Prison Lawyers and contributions to legal aid policy consultations.
