Prof. Kurt Schmidheiny is a Full Professor of Economics and Applied Econometrics at the University of Basel's Faculty of Economics and Business. He holds affiliations with the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and CESifo, and serves as President of the Swiss Society of Economics and Statistics. His research focuses on tax competition, fiscal federalism, and urban economics, with publications in top journals like the Journal of Political Economy and PNAS. He has received prestigious grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Ramon y Cajal Fellowship.
