Kurt Grannan serves as Associate Professor of Graphic Design at Mount St. Joseph University's School of Creative Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio. With over 20 years of professional experience spanning advertising agencies, design firms, and nonprofit sectors, he integrates industry practice into academia as Creative Partner at Grannan Design LTD.
His research focuses on the intersection of visual communication strategy and social commentary. Grannan explores how design and painting can address critical environmental, social, and human rights issues through visual propaganda that sparks public dialogue. His artistic practice emphasizes texture and spatial storytelling using oil media with Dorland's wax medium on canvas and panel board.
Grannan actively engages in community initiatives including smoke-free policy advocacy through art, heroin crisis response workgroups, and public art projects like the Big Pig Gig for Earth Day. His teaching encompasses digital media, brand identity systems, and senior capstone projects.
