Kuntara Pukthuanthong is a Professor of Finance and the Robert J. Trulaske, Jr. Professor of Finance at the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business, University of Missouri. Her research focuses on international finance, asset pricing, and market efficiency. She holds a BA in Economics from Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), an MBA in Finance from Washington University, and a PhD in Finance from the University of California, Irvine.
She has served as an associate editor for the International Review of Financial Analysis Journal and held roles such as consultant at AXA Rosenberg Investment Management and member of the Board of Directors at Centricity Financial, LLC. Her work explores topics like machine learning in finance, investor sentiment analysis, and international market integration.
Dr. Pukthuanthong's research has been published in top journals including the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, and Journal of Financial Markets. Notable contributions include studies on war discourse impact on asset markets, behavioral finance through photo-based sentiment analysis, and factor identification in asset pricing models.
Her awards include the Crowell Prize (2021), Winemiller Excellence Award (2020), and Hillcrest Behavioral Finance Research Award (2019). She has advised on IPO strategies, litigation risks, and mutual fund performance, contributing to both academia and industry practices.
