Kunal Gupta

Dr. Kunal Gupta is an Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). He holds dual qualifications (MBChB and PhD) from the University of Cambridge and completed residency training at Oregon Health & Science University, followed by a fellowship in epilepsy and functional neurosurgery at Emory University. His clinical expertise focuses on surgical treatments for epilepsy and movement disorders, including Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG), and Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT).

Research interests include molecular mechanisms of epileptogenesis, Wnt signaling pathways, and novel surgical techniques. The Gupta Lab investigates therapeutic targets to prevent epilepsy development using animal models and advanced techniques like transcriptomics and viral gene modulation. Collaborations span institutions like Indiana University and the University of North Carolina, focusing on neurosurgery, biomedical engineering, and plethysmography.
