Dr. Krystal Lockwood is a Gumbaynggirr and Dunghutti academic serving as a Lecturer at Griffith University's School of Criminology and Criminal Justice and a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures. She holds adjunct roles at Griffith Criminology Institute and the Indigenous Research Unit. Her research focuses on Indigenous justice, sentencing practices, parental incarceration, and integrating Indigenous methodologies into policy evaluation and education. Lockwood has contributed to projects like Transforming Corrections to Transform Lives and authored over 15 peer-reviewed articles. She teaches courses on First Nations justice, punishment reform, and criminological theory. Her awards include the Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2024). Lockwood has secured grants totaling AUD 7,409 for initiatives like strengthening cultural capabilities in criminology education and justice sector training. She actively engages in policy advocacy, including submissions to the Women's Safety & Justice Taskforce and public discourse on decarceration strategies.
