Kruti Chaliawala, PhD, MS, MA, CHES is an Assistant Professor in the School of Public and Population Health at Boise State University. Her research focuses on addressing health disparities, particularly among minority populations and international students, with an emphasis on mental health, sexual health, and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Dr. Chaliawala holds a PhD in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Cincinnati and additional degrees in Forensic Psychology, Forensic Science, and Criminal Justice, which inform her multidisciplinary approach to public health.
Her academic journey began in 2010, driven by a commitment to community impact. Key research areas include the psychosocial determinants of health behaviors among adolescents and young adults, international student well-being, and culturally responsive health interventions. She has contributed to studies on depression, stress, and academic success among international students, as well as interventions targeting menstrual health in rural India and ACEs among Asian populations.
Dr. Chaliawala advocates for inclusive environments for international students and has explored topics like non-partner sexual violence, e-cigarette use among youth, and the mental health implications of cultural barriers. Her work bridges public health, forensic sciences, and education to address systemic health inequities.
