Kristy L. Ganoe

Kristy L. Ganoe is an Assistant Teaching Professor of English at Penn State University. Their research focuses on embodied culture, gender, conflict resolution, and educational systems, with a particular emphasis on the body as a site of agency within oppressive structures. They hold a Ph.D. in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University. Prior to Penn State, they taught at Carnegie Mellon University, Indiana University South Bend, and the University of Notre Dame.

Research interests include ethnography, scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), and non-traditional education systems. They serve as an associate editor for Prompt: A Journal of Academic Writing Assignments.

Publications span leisure studies, sport and exercise research, and qualitative methodologies. Their work addresses topics such as gender violence prevention through martial arts, media representation of female athletes, and self-representation narratives in athletics.
