Kristoffer Boyle serves as Professor and Director within the School of Communications at Brigham Young University (BYU). An Idaho native, he earned his foundational degrees at BYU—Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism (2001) and Master of Arts in Mass Communication (2005)—before completing his Ph.D. in Mass Communications at Texas Tech University in 2008. After six years as Assistant Professor of Journalism at Creighton University, he returned to BYU, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in media writing and editing.

Dr. Boyle's research centers on journalism's adoption of new media technologies, particularly social media platforms, examining their impact on reporting practices and audience engagement. His scholarly work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in digital journalism environments.
He actively contributes to the academic community as a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), publishing in peer-reviewed journals including Newspaper Research Journal, Journal of Media & Religion, and Computers in Human Behavior.
Professionally, Dr. Boyle integrates his industry experience—gained as a reporter at the Idaho Falls Post Register (2001-2003) and as Managing Editor of BYU's Universe student newspaper—into his teaching methodology. His administrative role as Director shapes curriculum development within the School of Communications, focusing on technological integration in journalism education.
Outside academia, he maintains an active lifestyle with running and biking, and is a dedicated attendee of BYU sports events with his wife and two sons.
