Kristine Kjærsgaard is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Cultural and Linguistic Studies at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). She holds a PhD and specializes in international relations, focusing on Danish foreign and security policy, human rights, and the role of international organizations like the UN and Council of Europe. Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary policy issues.
Her research interests include transnational advocacy networks, Scandinavian diplomacy during the Cold War, and the impact of UN conferences on domestic policy. She has authored books such as *Danmark i FN* (2018) and edited volumes on human rights and Nordic cooperation.
Recent publications analyze Denmark’s evolving development finance strategies, Middle East diplomatic challenges, and Scandinavian actions against the Greek Junta. Her work frequently highlights the interplay between international institutions and domestic policy formation in small states.
Prof. Kjærsgaard serves on editorial boards and has supervised numerous research projects. She is affiliated with SDU’s Center for War Studies and regularly contributes to public debates on global governance and historical diplomacy.
