Kristine Gritter is a Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Seattle Pacific University's School of Education, where she has worked since 2007. Her academic focus on textual discussions in English language arts classrooms emphasizes student text-to-self connections and popular culture integration.

Selected scientific awards include: the Column of the Year Award (2019) for "Not Everyone's Darling": Censorship and Knowledge Construction in Habibi. She teaches children’s literature, secondary English methods, and reading/writing strategies for both undergraduate and graduate students.
