Kristina Washington, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale Child Study Center within the Yale School of Medicine. She holds a PhD in School Psychology from Lehigh University and a B.A. in Psychology and Criminology from Pennsylvania State University, with a minor in Children Maltreatment Advocacy Studies. As a Viola W. Bernard Social Justice and Health Equity Fellow, her work focuses on disrupting the school-to-prison pipeline through prevention and intervention strategies for vulnerable youth, including those with trauma histories, minoritized backgrounds, and disabilities.
Her research integrates ecological systems theory to examine how parenting, neighborhood context, peers, and institutional systems impact mental health and school outcomes for incarcerated adolescents. Clinically, she provides therapy and assessment services across diverse settings, including schools, hospitals, residential facilities, and juvenile detention centers.
