Kristina Jerre is a Lecturer at the Department of Criminology, Stockholm University. She defended her PhD in Criminology in 2013, focusing on public opinion and societal reactions to crime in Sweden. Her research interests include criminal justice policy, public attitudes toward sentencing and recidivism, workplace violence, and Scandinavian legal systems. She has published extensively on topics such as legal awareness in Scandinavia, the implications of public opinion on sentencing, and the intersection of healthcare data with criminological studies.
Her academic work spans peer-reviewed articles in journals like Nordisk Tidsskrift for Kriminalvidenskab, European Journal of Criminology, and Journal of Scandinavian Studies in Criminology and Crime Prevention. Her doctoral thesis, The Public's Sense of Justice in Sweden - a Smorgasbord of Opinions, explores the diversity of public perspectives on criminal justice. She has also contributed to reports and collaborative research on Nordic legal awareness and workplace violence.
Jerre’s publications often emphasize empirical studies, such as vignette-based surveys and cross-national comparisons, to understand how societal attitudes shape penal policies. Her work bridges criminological theory with practical implications for legal and workplace safety policies.
