Kristina Fields

Dr. Kristina Fields is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, within the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science. She teaches courses such as Transportation Engineering, Highway Engineering, and Construction Engineering, integrating real-world infrastructure projects into her curriculum.

Her research and professional activities focus on transportation systems, with a specialization in cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. She has led a study abroad course, CIVILENG 4680 Cycling Infrastructure in the Netherlands, offered in 2017, 2018, 2019, and planned for 2022, reflecting her international engagement in sustainable mobility. Her work bridges academia and community development through collaborations with the City of Platteville’s Safe Routes Committee.

Dr. Fields is recognized for her commitment to diversity in engineering, having managed the Sky's the Limit outreach program and currently leading the Construction Confidence Project, which supports student development in construction careers with an emphasis on inclusion and professional skills. She also serves as faculty advisor for the Institute for Transportation Engineering student chapter.

She actively promotes STEM education for young women and underrepresented students and integrates software tools like Civil 3D, MS Project, and Mathcad into her teaching.
