Kristin Moffitt is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Boston Children’s Hospital. Her work bridges clinical care and translational research, focusing on bacterial pathogenesis and immune responses in pediatric populations. Dr. Moffitt graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine (2004), completed her pediatrics residency at Rhode Island Hospital (2007), and her fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Boston Children’s Hospital (2010).
Her research investigates mechanisms of immunity to bacterial infections such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus, with a focus on developing novel vaccines. Key projects include identifying protective antigens and understanding host-pathogen interactions. She has received awards for her clinical care and research, including the Kass Award (Massachusetts Infectious Diseases Society) and grants from the Charles Hood Foundation.
Dr. Moffitt’s clinical expertise includes treating bacterial meningitis, endocarditis, and severe infections in immunocompromised children. Her recent publications highlight studies on viral-bacterial coinfections in critically ill children, immune response dynamics in multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), and molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis.
