Dr. Kristin Heffernan is a Professor in the Department of Social Work at SUNY Brockport since 2008. She holds an MSW from Fordham University and a doctoral degree from Boston College. Previously, she served as a Social Work Lecturer and Director of the BSc Social Work (Hons) Program at Royal Holloway, University of London for four years. Her research focuses on social justice, leadership in social work education, domestic violence, sex trafficking, and women’s issues, with current work developing trauma-informed best practices for human trafficking intervention.
Dr. Heffernan teaches Social Work Methods I & II and Human Behavior in the Social Environment I & II. Her community-based experience includes clinical and administrative roles supporting at-risk youth and families in New York and Boston. She maintains an office in Brown Building 266 and can be reached at kheffern@brockport.edu.
