Dr Kristin Doern has served as the Head of the Bath School of Design at Bath Spa University since April 2021. With over 30 years of experience in the arts and cultural sector across Canada and the UK, she specializes in bridging theoretical education with practical professional development through sector-engaged curricula and work-based learning opportunities. She has held leadership roles including Interim Head of Bath Business School (2020–2021) and Graduate Course Director (2016).

Her research focuses on heritage management, gender studies in Victorian literature, and the integration of employability into academic programs. She has contributed to the development of courses such as BA (Hons) Architecture and MA Arts Management, emphasizing collaboration with cultural institutions.
Her recent publications highlight trends in heritage interpretation, particularly in World Heritage Cities like Bath and Quebec, and analyze gendered themes in 19th-century literature and social reform movements. She advocates for interdisciplinary approaches that connect cultural heritage with educational pedagogy and professional practice.
Kristin actively engages with cultural partnerships through roles on the City of Bath World Heritage Site Advisory Board, the Holburne Museum's Universities Partnership Group, and her former trusteeship at the Bath Preservation Trust. She has contributed to initiatives enhancing postgraduate and international student experiences at Bath Spa University.
