Kristin Dickinson is an Assistant Professor of German Studies at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on the intersections of German and (Ottoman) Turkish literature, emphasizing translation’s role in challenging nationalist ideologies and conventional academic boundaries. She explores themes such as multilingualism, cross-linguistic remembrance, and non-ethnic belonging.
Her work has been published in journals including New German Critique, Transit, and Turkish-German Studies Yearbook. She has held fellowships with the Social Science Research Council and the International Research Center for Cultural Studies (IFK) in Vienna. Her forthcoming book, *DisOrientations: German-Turkish Cultural Contact in Translation (1811–1946)*, examines literary translations as mediums of cultural and political reorientation.
