Kristie J. Newton

Kristie J. Newton serves as Professor and Associate Dean for Educator Preparation and P-12 Partnerships in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Temple University's College of Education and Human Development. With extensive experience teaching middle and high school mathematics and conducting K-12 teacher professional development, her work bridges academic research and classroom practice.

Her research investigates mathematical cognition across learner spectra—from struggling students to experts—with emphasis on fraction knowledge transfer to algebra learning, cognitive flexibility, and misconception analysis.
