Kristian Helin serves as CEO and President of The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London and holds the title of Professor of Epigenetics and Cancer. He earned a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and a PhD from the University of Copenhagen. His career includes roles at Harvard Medical School, the Danish Cancer Society, the European Institute of Oncology, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
His research focuses on epigenetics, cancer biology, and cell cycle control, with significant contributions to understanding stem cell transcription and differentiation mechanisms. His work has led to the founding of biotechnology companies EpiTherapeutics and Dania Therapeutics. He currently leads the Helin laboratory at ICR, driving breakthroughs in cancer epigenetics.
Prof. Helin is an elected member of prestigious organizations including EMBO, the Royal Danish Academy, and the Royal Society (UK). He has received multiple accolades for his biomedical research and holds leadership roles in academic and scientific institutions globally.
