Kristian Hahn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University's Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. He earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. His research focuses on Dark Matter physics using data from the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with the CMS experiment. He leads efforts to detect Dark Matter through direct production in proton-proton collisions and develops hardware-based data filtering systems for the CMS track trigger. Hahn co-leads the LHC Dark Matter Working Group and the CMS Phase-2 Track Trigger Working Group.
His work addresses challenges in high-luminosity LHC data processing, including real-time track reconstruction and signal acceptance optimization. Collaborative projects include advancing search strategies for Dark Matter mediators and refining analysis techniques for rare particle interactions. Hahn's contributions bridge experimental and theoretical particle physics communities to enhance LHC discovery potential.
