Kristen T. Leeman is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and serves as Associate Medical Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Boston Children’s Hospital. She leads quality improvement initiatives to enhance care for critically ill newborns and directs the Harvard Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program.

Her research focuses on neonatal lung diseases, particularly bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), and she investigates stem cell therapies for lung repair. She also works on implementing evidence-based practices through quality improvement science and has published extensively on NICU care, BPD management, and gender equity in neonatology.
Recent publications highlight her work on mentorship programs for women in neonatology, respiratory care standardization in NICUs, and translational studies on lung stem cell biology. These studies span neonatal pulmonology, medical education, and clinical quality improvement.
