Kristen Brustad

Kristen Brustad is an Associate Professor in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas at Austin's College of Liberal Arts. She teaches and studies Arabic dialects, language ideology, and the history of Arabic.

• Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University (1991)

Her research focuses on Arabic dialects, syntax, language ideology, and Arabic literary and linguistic history. She maintains an Arabic Dialects website and has authored books and publications in her field.
