Kristal Lyn Brown

Kristal Lyn Brown is Assistant Professor in the Creative Arts Therapies Department at Drexel University with secondary appointment in Community Health and Prevention. Her interdisciplinary research examines health equity at the intersection of stress, obesity, and racial disparities.

Research investigates stress pathways linking racism exposure to cardiometabolic health outcomes, particularly among Black women. Develops adapted interventions addressing maladaptive eating behaviors and weight management through clinical trials. Leads community-engaged projects including Brown Girl Narratives using art-based approaches.

Honors include selection for NIH research institutes and early career awards in health equity. Certified health and wellness coach with clinical experience delivering technology-mediated interventions. Research funded through multiple grants examining social determinants of health outcomes.
