Krista Nishida is a Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Washington State University (WSU), where she focuses on enhancing student learning outcomes and retention through innovative pedagogical strategies. Her academic journey includes a B.A. in Chemistry from Whitman College (Walla Walla, WA) and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from WSU.
Her research spans two key domains: (1) chemical education, emphasizing the use of concept mapping and peer feedback to improve chemistry learning, and (2) materials science, particularly the structural and electronic properties of porphyrin and phthalocyanine nanomaterials on gold surfaces. Recent work includes studies on concept maps in 2020-2023, while earlier contributions (2009-2011) explored nanoscale phenomena in porphyrin and phthalocyanine systems.
Dr. Nishida is actively involved in academic advising, offering appointments via Microsoft Bookings. She is based in Office 0261A of the Academic Faculty Office and can be reached at krista_nishida@wsu.edu.
