Krista Lynne Smith is an Associate Professor and holder of the Mitchell/Heep/Munnerlyn Endowed Career Enhancement Chair in Physics at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on observational astrophysics, particularly time domain observations of black hole accretion disks and jets, binary Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), and the impact of AGN on host galaxies. She utilizes advanced instruments such as NICER, Swift, TESS, VLT-MUSE, Fermi, and the VLA.
Research collaborations include institutional partnerships with the Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics & Astronomy. Her work bridges galactic evolution studies with high-energy astrophysical phenomena. Key areas of investigation include AGN dynamics, black hole-jet interactions, and time-domain astrophysical events.
