Krista L. Jacobsen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Kentucky, affiliated with the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Her research focuses on sustainable and organic specialty cropping systems through an agroecological lens, examining how rotation, diversification, cover crops, and conservation tillage impact soil quality, nutrient cycling, plant productivity, and economic viability across farming scales. She teaches courses such as Introduction to Sustainable Agriculture (SAG 101), Plant Production Systems (PLS/SAG 386), Agroecology (GEN 300), Cultural Perspectives on Sustainability (SAG 201), and World Food Issues II (HON 115). Her work emphasizes curriculum development, national teaching collaborations, and graduate mentorship.
Her lab, the Jacobsen Lab, prioritizes discovering new knowledge and evaluating technologies for horticultural crop production and utilization, with a mission to deliver practical information to agricultural stakeholders.
