Krista Hylkilä is a University Teacher and Doctoral Researcher at the Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oulu. Her work centers on digital well-being, social media use, and health promotion, particularly among adolescents and young adults.
Her research interests include:
- Digital wellbeing
- Social media use and its psychological effects
- Health promotion strategies
- Health coaching interventions
- Technology multitasking and digital gaming
Her doctoral research investigates risk profiles in social networking site (SNS) use among young adults and evaluates the impact of health coaching on psychosocial well-being. She is an active member of the DigiWellbeing research group and has contributed to EU-funded projects such as QualMent, focusing on intervention development and implementation.
Krista possesses strong expertise in designing digital teaching materials and learning environments, supporting both research and education. She also engages in professional competence development in health promotion.
